Barack “Pay to Play” Obama and the Democrat’s “Culture of Corruption”
The Feds have finally moved in on Barack “Pay to Play” Obama’s corrupt friend Gov. Blagojevich, and Barack “Pay to Play” Obama is quickly trying to distance himself from Gov. Blagojevich, with lots of help – once again – from the MSM; however, Obama has already been caught in at least one contradiction. When Barack “Pay to Play” Obama was recently asked what contact he’d had with the Gov. Blagojevich’s office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama repLIED – “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.”
But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.
While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a “kingmaker,” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”
With David Axelrod clearly caught on tape, he and Barack “Pay to Play” Obama’s Transition Team now claim that David Axelrod “misspoke” and/or “was mistaken.” Yeah, right…
But there remain questions about how Blagojevich knew that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything in exchange for the Senate seat — with whom was Blagojevich speaking? Did that person report the governor to the authorities?
And, it should be pointed out, Mr. Obama has a relationship with Mr. Blagojevich, having not only endorsed Blagojevich in 2002 and 2006, but having served as a top adviser to the Illinois governor in his first 2002 run for the state house.
How close was Barack “Pay to Play” Obama to Rod Blagojevich back around June 27, 2002? Well, in an interview with Jeff Berkowitz, then State Senator Obama said – “Right now, my main focus is to make sure that we elect Rod Blagojevich as Governor, we…” The interview continued…
“You working hard for Rod?” interrupted Berkowitz. “You betcha,” said Obama. “Hot Rod?” asked the host. “That’s exactly right,” Obama said.
In 2004, then-Gov. Blagojevich enthusiastically endorsed Obama for the Senate seat after he won the nomination, and Obama endorsed Blagojevich for his 2006 re-election race in early 2005.
In the Summer of 2006, then-U.S. Sen. Obama backed Blagojevich even though there were serious questions at the time about Blago’s hiring practices.
President-elect Barack Obama’s ties to arrested Illinois Democratic Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich run primarily through Chicago slum lord and felon Tony Rezko. Rezko served as the political godfather for both Blagojevich and Obama, helping both to rise in Chicago and Illinois politics. Obama himself has credited Rezko with helping to his political career. Rezko raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for both politicians.
“Culture of Corruption” … the “Chicago Way” … the “Chicago Democratic Machine.” Other posts on the subject – Boomerang: The Democrat culture of corruption and especially – No discussions between Blago and Obama? Maybe.
From my post – Déjà Vu: Message of New Left is the same as the Old Left:
.. Corruption, at least corruption old-fashioned Chicago style, is par for the city’s political culture. Unlike corruption in other cities, Chicago corruption usually trickled down to the little guy. The myth is that everyone benefited. Of course, some people benefited a lot more than others.
.. Michelle was subsequently hired by the University of Chicago, ultimately ending up as the University of Chicago Hospital’s Vice President for External Affairs. Barack was chair of the Illinois Senate’s powerful Health and Human Services Committee, the position tied by some to the Rezko scandal.
If you don’t get the picture, you are definitely not from Chicago.
.. Barack and Michelle were a power couple hooked into the Democratic machine. Tony Rezko cultivated them, the Chicago Way. When the Obamas bought their mansion in trendy Hyde Park-Kenwood, Mrs. Rezko bought the lot next door for asking price in a coordinated deal from the same seller. The Obamas got their house at a discount. Mrs. Rezko paid full price. Later, Mrs. Rezko sold part of the lot to the Obamas to expand their back yard.
What Rezko wanted from Obama became apparent later.
Michelle Obama was and is deeply involved in this “Culture of Corruption” also; along with her husband Barack “Pay to Play” Obama, i.e. they are the ultimate ‘Corrupt Couple’…so to speak.
As a State Senator – and “Community Organizer” – Barack “Pay to Play” Obama willingly immersed himself in the corruption of Chicago’s political atmosphere, and built up a long list of corrupt friends and corrupt deals…
The candidate endorsed subsidies for private entrepreneurs to build low-income units. But, while he garnered support from developers, many projects in his former district have fallen into disrepair.
.. The campaign did not respond to questions about whether Obama was aware of the problems with buildings in his district during his time as a state senator, nor did it comment on the roles played by people connected to the senator.
Among those tied to Obama politically, personally, or professionally are:
Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee. Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006, after city inspectors found widespread problems.
Allison Davis, a major fund-raiser for Obama’s US Senate campaign and a former lead partner at Obama’s former law firm. Davis, a developer, was involved in the creation of Grove Parc and has used government subsidies to rehabilitate more than 1,500 units in Chicago, including a North Side building cited by city inspectors last year after chronic plumbing failures resulted in raw sewage spilling into several apartments.
Antoin “Tony” Rezko, perhaps the most important fund-raiser for Obama’s early political campaigns and a friend who helped the Obamas buy a home in 2005. Rezko’s company used subsidies to rehabilitate more than 1,000 apartments, mostly in and around Obama’s district, then refused to manage the units, leaving the buildings to decay to the point where many no longer were habitable.
Campaign finance records show that six prominent developers – including Jarrett, Davis, and Rezko – collectively contributed more than $175,000 to Obama’s campaigns over the last decade and raised hundreds of thousands more from other donors. Rezko alone raised at least $200,000, by Obama’s own accounting.
One of those contributors, Cecil Butler, controlled Lawndale Restoration, the largest subsidized complex in Chicago, which was seized by the government in 2006 after city inspectors found more than 1,800 code violations.
Butler and Davis did not respond to messages. Rezko is in prison; his lawyer did not respond to inquiries.
Valerie Jarrett – Barack “Pay to Play” Obama’s original “favorite candidate” to take his Senator’s seat – is the “Candidate 1” mentioned in the U.S. attorney’s complaint against Gov. Blagojevich. Valerie Jarrett will now serve as – “senior adviser and assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison.”
